During the
weekend of July 17-20 the Ridgefield Aquatic Club sent 5 swimmers to the
Eastern Zone Speedo Sectional Championships at
Brian
Bollerman and Kristi Edleson’s performances lead the way for the RAC swim
team. Brian placed 7th in the
men’s 200 meter breastroke (with a Junior National qualifying time), 21st
in the 400 Individual Medley, 23rd in the 100 breast, and 29th
in the 200 Individual Medley. Kristi
placed 8th in the woman’s 1500 meter freestyle (with a Junior
National qualifying time), 12th in the 800 freestyle, 19th
in the 400 freestyle, and 38th in the 200 freestyle. By qualifying for the Junior National Meet
both Kristi and Brian will put themselves among some of the nations elite 18
and under swimmers. The Junior National
meet will be held March 17-21 in
Also placing at the meet was Andrew Klutey who placed 19th in the men’s 400 IM, 25th in the 800 freestyle, 23rd in the 1500 freestyle, and 35 in the 200 freestyle. Danny Palmiotto, placed 18th in the 200 backstroke, 32nd in the 200 freestyle, 42nd in the 100 backstroke, and 43rd in the 100 freestyle. Bill Magin, placed 30th in the men’s 100 freestyle, 38th in the 200 freestyle, 39th in the 50 freestyle, and 59th in the 100 backstroke.
In addition to RAC’s individual swimming success, the men’s 800 freestyle relay placed 4th, the 400 freestyle relay placed 8th and the 400 medley relay placed 12th. Both the 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle relays broke the Ridgefield Aquatic Club team records.
