RAC SWIMMERS TURN IN FAST SWIMS AT REGIONALS

Fifty-seven swimmers from Ridgefield Aquatic Club competed in the 2007 CT Regional Championships held last month in New Haven. More than half of the swimmers had a top 16 finish in one or more event.

Leading the way for RAC was 17-year old Madison Walsh from Ridgefield. She placed 1^st in four senior events; 100 free (56.67), 200 Free (2:03.36), 500 Free (5:27.34) and 200 Back (2:18.43) and placed 2^nd in the senior girl’s 50 free event (26.41).

15-year old Katie Feeser (Ridgefield) and 12-year old Courtney Kenyon (Ridgefield) also turned in stellar performances. Katie placed 1^st in the senior 200 IM (2:19.61) and 200 Breast (2:41.21). She also placed in the senior girl’s 100 free (57.71, 3^rd), 50 free (26.72, 4^th), 200 free (2:07.35, 5^th) and 100 Breast (1:17.31, 6^th). Courtney placed 1^st in the 11-12 girl’s 500 free (6:06.77) and 200 Breast (2:51.29). She also placed in the 8-12 girl’s 50 Breast (37.19, 2^nd) and the 11-12 girl’s 200 Free (2:17.99, 4^th), 200 IM (2:40.70, 7^th), 100 Free (1:05.90, 8^th) and 100 IM (1:17.28, 11^th).

Rounding out the event winners are Joanna Tchobanova of Brewster, 1^st place in the senior girl’s 400 IM (5:09.18); Kristen Traynor of New Fairfield, 1^st place in the senior girl’s 200 Fly (2:30.79); Jordan Voves of Ridgefield, 1^st place in the 11-12 boy’s 200 IM (2:33.66) and Justin Kenyon of Ridgefield, 1^st place in the 15-18 boy’s 1650 Free (18:23.72). Joanna also placed in the senior girl’s 200 Breast (2:42.56, 3^rd), 100 Breast (1:17.37, 7^th), 200 IM (2:27.65, 8^th), 100 Fly (1:08.15, 9^th) and 100 Free (1:02.26, 16^th). Kristin also placed in the senior girl’s 400 IM (5:09.77, 2^nd), 200 Breast (2:45.26, 6^th), 100 Fly (1:07.87, 8^th), 100 Breast (1:19.02, 9^th), 100 Back 1:11.44, 10^th) and 200 IM (2:28.89, 10^th). Jordan also placed in the boy’s 11-12 50 fly (32.81, 2^nd), 200 Free (2:17.96, 4^th) and the 100 Free (1:05.15, 5^th). Justin also placed in the boy’s 15-18 200 Back (2:27.11, 4^th), 100 Back (1:11.50, 6^th), 100 Free (1:01.94, 8^th) and 200 Free (2:10.76, 10^th).
