Feb. 1 The Feb Practice Schedule is posted. Please be sure to look at the week of Feb. 27-Mar 3. Swimmers that do not qualify for the Age Group Championships will be off until March 20. However the PR/PW will have a meeting on Feb. 27 from 4:45-5:30 to discuss the meet. The Premier group will have a meeting on Feb. 27 from 6:45-7:30 to discuss the meet.

Jan 3. RAC Earns Prestigious Silver Medal Award from USA Swimming
I am proud to announce that RAC has achieved Silver Medal Status as a club by USA swimming based on its swimmer's performances during the 2011 swimming season. Last year RAC earned a bronze medal distinction. This distinction ranks RAC as one of the top 100 swim programs in the US. RAC is one of only 4 Connecticut teams to earn this award. Along with this distinction is a monetary grant from USA Swimming.

Directions to Newtown H.S.

Take I-84 East to Exit 11. Turn right at the end of the ramp. Turn left at the next stop light. Newtown H.S will be on your immediate left. Park in front of the main entrance and enter through the lobby.

To access the pool. Enter the building through the main lobby. Proceed straight until you reach the main gym. The boys locker room is located down a hall to the left of the gym and the girls locker room is located down the hallway to the right of the gym. The pool will be accessible through the locker rooms.

Dec. 19 The short course team records have been updated through the MIT meet. The CDOG distance meet was rescheduled for Friday Jan. 20 due to repairs being made to the bubble in Cheshire. The SE swimmers will no longer participate in this meet. We have also added 2-8/u meets. The first will be on Jan. 8 at the Hopkins School in New Haven and the second meet will be on Jan. 28 will be hosted by the GRYM in Greenwich. We will post the meet info in the coming days.

Dec. 5 RAC will be hosting the our Holiday Party on Dec. 17 at the Brookfield Lanes from 6-8 PM. The theme of the party will be Cosmic Bowling. The RAC practice schedule has been adjusted. The only group that was affected was the elite squad. Pratices will end at 7:45 on Tues/Thurs beginning on Dec. 13. Originally the schedule had practices ending at 7 PM (this was a typo).

Oct. 25 The 8 & under meet listed as ZEUS on 11/18 was incorrect. We will be attending HHSC on Saturday the 19th of November. The meet information has been updated in our meet's tab.

We are cancelling the Dec.16-18 CCAT meet in Middletown. We will be replacing that meet with the Dec. 9-11 Trial/Final meet being hosted by SNCO in New Haven, CT.

We are adding a distance meet to the schedule on Jan. 13 in Cheshire, CT. The events being offered will be the 12/u 500 free & the 11/older 1650 free.

Oct. 6 The Elite practice on Monday morning Oct. 10 has been rescheduled. The practice time for the AM workout on Oct. 10 is from 5:30-7 AM.

Sep. 15 Meet information has been posted for the Westport 8 & under and LEHY All Team meet.

Sept. 14 The RAC equipment order form has been revised. The team warm ups have been added to the list.

Sept. 8 The September Practice Schedule is located in the "schedules" section of the website. Also, the wetshop page has been updated with new contacts. The team suit fitting/welcome breakfast will be on Sept. 17 from 9-12 PM at the Ridgefield Rec Center.

Sept. 5 The RAC team equipment order form and equipment list for the 2011-2012 seson has been posted in the wetshop section of the website. Also RAC Frequently Asked question form has been uploaded into the handbook section of the website.

Aug. 30 Due to the electrical outage in Ridgefield, we have rescheduduled our tryout dates. Tryout dates and times are as follows:

Sept 6 & 7: 5-6:30 PM @ the Barlow Mountain Pool
Sept. 10: 9:30-11 AM @ the Barlow Mountain Pool

The start dates for the Elite and Extreme groups will remain the same, however, the practice times will change.
The Elite and Extreme groups will have practice on Sept. 6-7 from 6:30-8 PM. Please bring appropriate clothing to do dryland.

Aug. 24 RAC swimmers make headlines at the recent Junior National and Super Sectional Swim Meets. At the recent Junior National Championships RAC had its first Junior National Champion and Olympic Trial Qualifiers. Faith Martin won RAC's first Junior National Championship in the Women's 200 IM with a new Olympic Trial & CT 17-18 and Open record with a time of 2:16.07. Faith also achieved Olympic Trial qualifying times in the Women's 200 Breastroke with a time of 2:34.60 and the Women's 400 IM with a time of 4:51.63 which placed 22 and broke the CT 17-18 and Open records. Brian placed 10th and qualified for the A final in the men's 200 Breastroke with a preliminary time of 2:19.46. In addition to his Olympic Trial cut in the 200 Breastroke, he qualified for the C Final in the Men's 400 IM. In finals Brian placed 28th with a time of 4:32.08. In addition to Brian and Faith's achievements, Andrew Klutey and Grayson Smith represented RAC well.

At the Speedo Super Sectionals in Pittsburgh, PA Kristi Edleson and Jimmy Martin inched closer to Olympic Trial bids. Kristi placed 2nd in the Women's 800 Free and 4th in the Women's 400 free. Jimmy placed 3rd in the Men's 100 free, 4th in the 200 free, 16th in the 100 fly, and 9th in the 50 free just missing the 2012 Olympic Trial qualifying standard with a time of 23.75.

The RAC team records have been updated including all of the championship meets through August. During the course of the long course season, we broke 50 team records! Great job swimmers!

July 28. Group practice schedules have been posed along with new group descriptions and requirements.

July 27 Congratulations to all the RAC swimmers who participated at the CT Senior Open and CT Age Group Championships. The RAC Senior swimmers placed 4th in the combined team standings and the men's team placed 3rd at the CT Senior Open Championships. At the CT Age Group Championships, the RAC 11-12 Girls were team champions and the 11-12 boys placed 2nd in the team standings. Overall The RAC 11-12 year old swimmers were the team age group champions and the 15-19 year old swimmers were the team age group champions.

Congratulations to RAC's Sectional Team (Faith Martin, Andrew Klutey, Brian Bollerman, Grayson Smith, Alexis Valedon, Chris Myers, Kerri Knippenberg, Courtney Kenyon, & Lucianon Souza) for placing 4th at the Eastern Zone Sectional Championships held Mar. 24-27 in Buffalo, NY. The RAC men placed 2nd as a team in a closely contested race that came down to the final event on Sunday in the men's division. RAC claimed 10 championships over the course of the weeekend. Faith Martin lead the women with 4 titles in route to breaking 1 state record in the 400 IM and nearly broke the women's 200 freestyle state record. The men claimed 5 championships. The men won 4 of the 5 relays and Andrew Klutey and Brian Bollerman placed 1st and 2nd in the 400 IM. In addition to winning numerous races over the weekend, RAC achieved several summer Junior and Senior National qualifying times. Faith achieved Senior National qualifying times in the 200 Free, 400 IM, & 200 Breast and achieved Jr National qualifying times in the 100 free & 200 IM. Andrew achieved a Senior National qualifying time in the 400 IM and Jr National qualifying times in the 200 free & 500 free. Brian achieved a Senior National qualifying time in the 400 IM and Jr National qualifying times in the 100 breast, 200 breast, & 200 IM. Grayson picked up an additional Jr National qualifying time in the 1650 free.

Mar. 23 Practice for the Senior Group on Monday March 28 has been rescheduled. Practice will now be from 5:45-7:30 PM. We will not have dryland.

Mar. 7 Congratulations to RAC Alumni Kristi Edleson for winning the 2011 Ivy League Championship in the women's 1650 freestyle while representing University of Pennsylvania. In addition to winning the Ivy League Championship, Kristi achieved an NCAA Div I B qualifying time standard in the event.

Feb. 21 RAC has been awarded by USA Swimming awarded Bronze medal status in the Club Excellence Program for the 2011 year based on its swimmer's accomplishments over the course of the previous year. This is the first year that RAC has been awarded this distinction. Bronze medal programs must have at least 1 summer Jr. National Qualifier in order to qualify. We placed 9th in the country among Bronze medal programs. We are the 2nd highest placing team in CT.

Nov. 22 Congratulations to Faith Martin for winning the CT Class S & Open State Championships in the 200 IM & 500 freestyle. In route to her 2 championships Faith broke her own state record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.90. In addition to breaking her own CT High School State record Faith broke the CT Swimming Resident and State record in the 200 IM for 17-18 girls.

Aug. 26 The meet page has been updated. All of the recent meet results should be available for viewing. I have posted the general practice schedule and fees for the fall on the front page of the website. The practice times have also been added to the practice schedule page of the website. Please look over the practice times carefully. We have added some additional practice time to the Senior Elite, Senior, & Gold groups this season. We will be practicing until 8:45 PM on most evenings. Please remember that the SE/SR will start practice on Sept. 7, The Gold/Silver/Bronze will begin on Sept. 13, Olympic Way on Sept. 14 and the Masters team will begin practices on Sept. 20.

All returning swimmers should register ASAP. Please go register through the RAC website for the 2010-2011 swim season.

Aug. 16 Congratulations to RAC's 3 Eastern Zone participants, Kieren Smith, Lindsey Gordon, & A.J. Bornsten. Kieren placed 2nd in the 400 free, 3rd in the 200 IM & 200 free, 4th in the 100 free, 5th in the 50 free, & 6th in the 100 fly. Lindsey placed 2nd in the 50 & 100 breastroke. Lindsey missed breaking the state record in the 50 breast by on .4. Great Job Zone swimmers!

Congratulations to Brian Bollerman & Andrew Klutey for the performances at the USA Swimming Junior National Championships. Brian made his first USA Summer National Qualifying time in the 200 breast. Andrew and Brian broke 9 team records in route to swimming 100% lifetime best times

Congratulations to Grayson Smith for achieving his 1st Long Course Junior National Qualifying time in the 800 frestyle with a time of 8:31.10. That time broke his 15-16 state record that he established 1 week earlier.

May 25 The RAC Short Course Team Records have been updated. RAC broke 42 short course records during the 2009-2010 swimming season and established 3 NEW CT Records!

April 29 The revised meet entries for the OMNI 800 Free-Friday night and the OMNI Qualifier (Sat/Sun) are posted on the meet section of the website.

The entries for the WRAT Senior Meet are posted. Only swimmers who were met or were near the qualifying times were entered into the meet. The setup for the Sat session of this meet is different from many other meets that we attend. The events are spread between 2 sessions. I only entered each swimmer into 1 session on Sat. On Sunday there is only 1 session, therefore all participants will swim together. Sat events: AM session: events 3-10; Sat PM session events 11-18. Please email me with questions.

April 26 The meet entries for the OMNI meet is posted. Also, we did not get into the WYW May 14-16 meet our 13/o swimmers who have "A" times will be swimming at the WRAT meet instead. The 13/o swimmers without A times and the the 12/u swimmers will not be attending a meet that weekend.

Also, we did not get into the Zeus 10/u meet on Sat. May 8. I apologize for any inconvenience.

April 12. We have made a couple of changes to the Summer Meet Schedule. 1. The Zeus 10/u meet is NOW on May 8. 2. We will be attending the Wilton Age Group Qualifier on May 14-16. 3. We will NOT be attending the WYW AA or Senior Qualifier. We will be attending the CSI Senior Invitational and Qualifier on June 26-28. If you will not be able to attend the June 26-28 (only 13/over swimmers please send a scratch sheet in ASAP.

April 1 There will not be practice today. Ridgefield Parks and Rec Cancelled RAC practices because they needed to move their lessons program to the Barlow Mountain pool.

The meet results for the EZ Sectional Championships are posted. The RAC men's team placed 4th overall and the Combined team placed 7th. This is RAC's highest finish at the Sectional Championships. Congratulations to Andrew Klutey for being named the High Point Champion at the Sectional Championships. Also individually placing in the top 24 were Brian Bollerman, Grayson Smith, Alex Rosen & Kristi Edleson. Also Congratulations are in order for Alex Rosen for breaking the 13-14 boys 100 free state record. The RAC mens 800 free relay also broke the CT state record in the Senior 800 Free Mens Relay (the members of the relay are Andrew Klutey, Alex Rosen, Sean Sutherland, & Brian Bollerman).

Mar. 17 RAC will host new swimmer tryouts on April 8 from 4:30-5:30 PM and April 10 from 10:45-11:45 AM at the Barlow Mountain Pool in Ridgefield

Nov. 4 The SE swimmers are having a fundraiser on Nov. 4-5 at Piccolo's Pizza in Ridgefieldto raise money to offset the travel costs associated with the MIT Travel Meet to Boston in December . For every dollar spent 50% of the gross money will go towards the SE squads costs for attending the meet. In order for the SE swimmers to get credit for any purchases made, each family buying food must bring in the Piccolo Pizza flier to restaurant.

July 27 Breaking News!!! Congratulations to RAC's men's team claimed the 2009 CT Senior Open Team Championship. The combined men's and women's teams placed 3rd at the CT Senior Open Meet. Great job swimmers!

July 20 Congratulations to Alex Rosen for his Gold Medal in the 4 x 100 Free Relay at the Junior Maccabiah Games in Israel. This meet is an elite level meet in which the top 16/u Jewish athletes in the world come together every 4 years to compete. In addition to helping TEAM USA achieve a Gold Medal, Alex Also qualified for the Speedo Super Sectionals in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 55.09 and the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.07 (he just missed earning a bronze medal in the event. Congratulations to all of the swimmers who swam at the regional championships this past weekend at UCONN and Wesleyan University. The coaches at RAC are very proud of everyone's performance this weekend.

Aug 6 The Swimmer of the Month page has been updated.

Aug. 4 Congratulations to all of the RAC swimmers who participated at the CT Age Group State Championships. RAC placed 6h overall as a team. RAC won 4 individual state championships and established 6 new individual team records. Those new team records were established by Kelli Ann Valedon in the 11-12 girls 200 fly, Courtney Monsees in the senior girls 200 fly, and Grayson Smith in the 13-14 boys 200, 400, and 800 freestyle, as well as the 200 fly. Grayson Smith won the 13-14 boys 400, 800, and 1500 freestyle. Brian Bollerman won the senior men's 100 breastroke. In addition to RAC's 4 state champions, Grayson Smith won the 13-14 boys High Point Award and Distance High Point Award. At the conclusion of the meet, CT swimming selected Alexis Valedon and Brian Valedon to represent Connecticut and RAC at the Eastern Zone Age Group swimming championships in Rockville, MD. Good Luck to Alexis and Brian.

July 23 Congratulations to all RAC swimmers who participated at this weekends championship meets. At the Super Sectional Meet at Penn State, the RAC boys placed 13th as a team. Over the course of the weekend, the RAC sectional swimmers established 3 Jr. National qualifying times (Brian Bollerman 200 breastroke 2:29.10, Kristi Edleson, 1500 free 17:46.14, and the boys 800 free relay), broke 7 team records, and had swimmers qualfiy for finals every night of the meet.

At the regional meets we swam appx. 70% personal best times. We achieved 16 new state qualifying times, and qualified 3 new swimmers for the CT Age Group Championship Meet. Great Job swimmers!

Also, we will not be attending the Burgdorff LC Invitational in Jan due to mid term exams for many of our swimmers.

Nov. 29 The meet results for the Zeus 8/under meet have been posted in the meets section of the website.

Nov. 21 Meet results for the LEHY Distance Meet and Age Group Qualifier have been posted in the meet section of the website. Scratch deadlines have been added to the meet schedule. Any scratches after the deadlines are subject to paying the meet fees.

Revised meet entries for the PSDY Distance Meet have been posted in the meets section of the webiste.

Nov 20 The Meets and Results page was expanded to display scratch deadlines.

Nov 17 The officials clinic has been confirmed for Sat Nov. 24 from 10-1 PM at the Ridgefield Rec Center.

The Age Group and Developmental Swimmer Christmas Party will be held at the Rec Center on Sat. Dec. 8 from 11:30-1:30 PM. Stay tuned for more info.

The Swim-a-Thon logo has been added to the front page for easy access to the latest news and information on our annual Swim-a-Thon.

Nov. 15 We currently have 7 parents signed up for the officials clinic on Sat. Nov. 24. We need at least 3 more parents to sign up. Please contact Bob if you are able to attend.

There will be an Olympic Way "Fun Meet" on Thurs Nov. 29. We are asking each family to bring 1 snack and $5 to cover the costs of the Pizza afterwards. If you have further questions please contact Lucy Hayes at shayes11@comcast.net.

Nov 8 There will be a Developmental Pasta Party - Swim-a-Thon Kickoff On Wed Nov 14. Parents please attend so you can learn more about our major fundraiser of the year. Last year we raised $32,000 and had the third highest average per swimmer in the country.

There will be a Pancake Breakfast Swim-a-Thon Kickoff on Sat Nov 17 for the AG, Sr and SE swimmers immediately after their practice ends.

We are offering an officials clinic on Sat Nov 24 for new officials. It will be in the am at the Ridgefield Rec Center. We must have at least 10 parents to confirm the clinic. Please email Bob at racswimming256@aol.com of your interest.

Sept 19. The Meets page has been updated with the meet announcement for our first meet at Wilton. The Wet Shop has been updated. The last day for RAC apparel is Mon Sept 24. This is sweatshirts, flannel pants, fleeces, and towels.

Sept 17 There will be an officials Clinic on Oct. 8 in Westport at the YMCA. We are encouraging all parents who are interested in becoming officials to register.

Please note since we have a new RAC regular season competition suit this year every swimmer should purchase it. Sorry if this was not clear before. No Age Group or Senior practice tonight due to our Family Kick-off dinner

Sept 7 The September calendar has been revised again for Sept 17th - the night of our kick-off dinner. The SE will practice 4:30-6:30pm and the Developmental group will practice 4:45-6pm. There will be no practice on the 17th for the Senior and the Age Group squads.

There is a New Parent's meeting on Monday Sept 24 5:30-6:00pm at the Barlow pool, It is important that all new parents attend.

All swimmers will automatically be signed up for short course meets unless a scratch sheet is turned in. An entire meet can be scratched or just one day of a meet can be scratched. The meets are posted on the Meets page of the website. Deadline for Short Course Meets is Sept 28th. Click here for the RAC Meet Scratch Form. You may print it and turn it into the RAC office or you may click here Racswimming256@aol.com to submit an electronic scratch . Please add your Swimmers name, Meet to be scratched from and Days of meet to be scratched to the electronically submitted email..The subject field of the email will already read RAC Meet Scratch.

Aug. 1 The meet results for the CT Regional, Age Group, and Eastern Zone Super Sectionals have been posted in the meets section of the website.

July31 The Board of Directors page has been updated. The Wet Shop has been updated with the date for fall fittings and equipment sales. The times for the fall open house have been revised (on front page).

July 20 Practice will be ending early for both Developmental and Age Group tonight. Developmental will be out of the water between 5:30pm and 5:40pm. Age Group will be out of the water at 7pm.

CT Swimming as eliminated all relays from the regional championships due to more swimmers than expected. Remember all swimmers should be on deck 15 minutes before warm-ups Please make sure you strictly adhere to it this weekend.

July 10 RAC 12/under swimmers will be swimming at the Cheshire Regional on July 21-22. 13/over swimmers will swim at Wesleyan University. All swimmers who are entered on Friday night (regardless of age) will swim at Wesleyan.

Billing Statements have been placed in each swimmers box. All fees must be paid by Monday July 16.

June 28 Update for the WAC at Yale. It is a Three Session Meet. 13& Over are first, 10 & Under second, and 12 & Under are third. The warm-up times are as follows: 13 & Over- 7:15 AM, 10 & Under: 1:00 PM and 12 & Under: 4:00 PM. Detailed info will be handed out next week. Sorry for any miscommunication and/ or inconvenience.

June 24 Scheduled morning practices for the Sr and SE groups will move to Barlow at 6AM this week.
Afternoon practices have not changed.

May 22 On Thursday May 24th Peter Clark from USA swimming will be our guest at the SE/Senior practice at West Conn. He will talk with our swimmers about training and preparing for higher level championship meets. This is a great opportunity for our swimmers. We hope all SE and Senior swimmers can attend. Pool practice will begin afterwards at 5:30pm. Please arrive at 4:10pm - if possible.

May 21 The 1500 Free will be added for select swimmers on June 15th at the HMST Meet.

May 17 We will have practice as scheduled at the BM pool tonight. Please refer to the May practice schedule if you are unsure of the times.

May 1 SE practice on Friday May 4 in the afternoon has been canceled. We will have a mandatory Friday May 4 practice from 5-6:30 AM at BM.

Apr. 26 FREAKY FRIDAY IS TOMORROW APRIL 27 AT THE NORMAL PRACTICE TIME FOR EACH GROUP. SENIOR, AGE GROUP, AND DEVELOPMENTAL SWIMMERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING THEIR FRIENDS.

We will are changing our meet schedule somewhat. We are planning to still attend a meet the week of June 9-10. However, we are NOW planning to attend the WRAT Long Course Inv. at Wesleyan University. We changed the meet because it offered more distance races for our swimmers. The CAC meet was no going to offer any events over 400 meters.
